“Pakistan and China Forge 13 Agreements to Enhance Multilateral Cooperation”

ISLAMABAD, Oct 14 (APP): On Monday, Pakistan and China signed 13 agreements aimed at enhancing their bilateral cooperation across various sectors, including security, education, agriculture, human resource development, and science and technology.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chinese Premier Li Qiang held delegation-level talks, during which they explored all aspects of Pakistan-China relations, focusing on economic and trade ties as well as cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Upon Premier Li’s arrival at the PM House, Prime Minister Shehbaz warmly welcomed him in a formal ceremony that included a guard of honor before the meeting and talks began. The two prime ministers, along with their respective delegations, observed the signing ceremony.

Pakistan and China signed a Handing Over Certificate for the Smart Classrooms Project, with Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema and Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao representing their countries. They also finalized the minutes from the 13th meeting of the CPEC Joint Coordination Committee and the 7th Joint Working Group on Gwadar.

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Lou Zhaohui, Chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to promote cooperation within the Livelihood Working Group of CPEC.

Both countries agreed to bolster cooperation in “Information and Communication,” “Water Conservancy Facilities, Flood Control and Calamity Reduction,” and “Security.” Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema and Luo Zhaohui signed the MoUs related to these areas. They also exchanged Letters of Exchange on “Human Resource Development under the GDI” and “Assistance Program of Fire Fighting Vehicles to Islamabad.”

The two nations also signed an MoU to support Joint Laboratories, with Secretary of the Ministry of Science and Technology Sajid Baloch and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong signing the document. Furthermore, they agreed to collaborate on the “Co-production of TV Programs,” formalized through a document signed by Secretary of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Ambreen Jan and Chinese Ambassador Zaidong.

Additionally, Pakistan and China entered into a Currency Swap Agreement and established a Protocol on Quarantine Requirements for exporting donkey meat to China.
